In a landmark partnership, Airties, a renowned provider of managed Wi-Fi solutions for broadband service providers, announced its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) connectivity by optimizing Airties' Smart Wi-Fi software for Qualcomm's 5G FWA platforms, a move that could significantly impact the home broadband market.

"Fixed Wireless is unquestionably reshaping the home broadband market worldwide," said Metin Taskin, founder and Co-CEO of Airties. He highlighted the technical challenges common to both Wi-Fi and 5G, such as interference, signal attenuation, congestion, channel allocation, and spectrum management. Taskin emphasized the importance of understanding the end-user experience through both 5G and home Wi-Fi to assess the end-to-end performance of a FWA service. "We are extremely proud to forge this new strategic relationship with Qualcomm Technologies to further enhance FWA for wireless service providers around the globe."

This collaboration focuses on the seamless integration of Airties' managed Wi-Fi solutions on broadband carrier platforms, featuring Qualcomm® 5G Fixed Wireless Access Platform. It is aimed at simplifying OEM product development while enhancing the quality of experience at the nexus of local and wide-area networks.

Enrico Salvatori, Senior Vice President and President, Qualcomm Europe/MEA, Qualcomm Europe Inc., shared his insights, "For several decades now, Qualcomm Technologies has established its leadership in wireless, spanning from 5G to Wi-Fi, with these technologies coming together in our Qualcomm® 5G Fixed Wireless Access Platform, and more." Salvatori emphasized user experience as central to Qualcomm’s pursuit of managed network optimizations. "We're delighted to work with Airties to accelerate the delivery of these advanced capabilities to broadband carriers."

The collaboration will optimize the Qualcomm 5G Fixed Wireless Access Gen 2 and Gen 3 Platforms. Notably, the Qualcomm 5G FWA Gen 3 Platform is the world's first fully integrated 5G advanced-ready FWA platform. It supports Sub-6 GHz, mmWave, and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and is enhanced with a quad-core CPU and hardware acceleration. This platform, featuring the Snapdragon® X75 5G Modem-RF System, is engineered to deliver unprecedented 5G performance, achieving unmatched speeds, coverage, and link robustness. Additionally, the Qualcomm® QTM567 mmWave Antenna Module ensures reliable mmWave coverage, and Wi-Fi 7 with 10Gb ethernet promises multi-gigabit speeds and minimal latency.

Airties' approach integrates a unique hybrid cloud-edge architecture, leveraging both the embedded intelligence in customer premises equipment and the cloud. Their Airties Edge software, based on the industry-standard Wi-Fi EasyMesh™, turns home gateways/modems into intelligent Wi-Fi mesh access points, thus enhancing connectivity quality and stability within homes. Airties Cloud further monitors and orchestrates Wi-Fi across homes, optimizing broadband gateways and mesh extenders for a better consumer experience and providing insights on connected devices.

This partnership between Airties and Qualcomm Technologies signals a significant advancement in the realm of home broadband services. By integrating Airties' Smart Wi-Fi software with Qualcomm's advanced 5G technology, the collaboration aims to create a robust and high-quality internet service for broadband carriers globally, setting a new standard in the industry for FWA connectivity.
